Conscious Choices and Zariin Brides

The young Indian bride today is a very active participant in her wedding planning and trousseau shopping and defines the Zariin bride. As much as she would like to create the most memorable and special wedding experience, she is also mindful about the economics of her wedding, and is practical and sustainable in her approach. She doesn’t necessarily look at investing heavily in jewellery that will ultimately sit in her locker, but instead covets timeless pieces, which she can use again. The jewellery that she can wear again, reminiscing her wedding times, and accumulate more precious stories every time she wears them, carrying a chain of cumulative beautiful memories. We design our wedding collections with the same idea and have had the opportunity of dressing up some incredibly beautiful brides who made conscious choices for their special day.

We reach out to 8 Zariin brides and discover their thoughts behind why they picked up Zariin, rewearing your jewelry and some tips for brides to be!

Meet Zariin Bride – Riya Kartha

What inspired you to pick a Zariin for your special day?

I wanted something affordable, stylish and not real gold because I wanted to move away from the notion that you have to wear real gold as a bride. I also wanted something simple and ornate but not heavy

Do you believe in reusing the elements of your trousseau?

Definitely, I don’t believe in one-time buys, I plan to reuse all my Zariin jewelry

Did you end up wearing your Zariin piece again? What are the different ways you see yourself styling the Zariin piece you wore for your wedding events?

Unfortunately since I live abroad I haven’t been able to wear them after my wedding but I will when I attend another wedding in India or elsewhere

For the new age brides, what advice would you give them to help them make conscious choices? It’s okay to go against the tide and not fall into old patterns of doing things. I wore my grandmother’s choker because it meant something to me and I paired it with Zariin earrings and a long necklace. I don’t believe that as a bride you have to spend money just to look good; beauty and grace are about how you feel and how you carry off the simplest of things.

What inspired you to pick a Zariin for your special day?

Well, I wanted something different. I didn’t want to wear gold accessories and I had chosen a saree that had white and silver. I picked Zariin cause I loved the style and the intricate work. I wanted to wear something that was unique, subtle and elegant. And that is exactly what I got!

Do you believe in reusing the elements of your trousseau?

I do believe in reusing elements of my trousseau. Which is why everything I picked for my wedding was simple and elegant. I look forward to wearing my wedding accessories again, though I haven’t been able to after the wedding …because of everything that is going on in the world right now 😁

For the new age brides, what advice would you give them to help them make conscious choices?

To brides now, I would say – pick something that is you and since it is you, you will be able to pull it off with anything you wear.

Meet Zariin Bride – Lara Christie Caldwell

What inspired you to pick a Zariin for your special day?

A friend told  me to go to Zariin when I was asking about jewelry and when the pieces I was gifted looked too traditional for my outfit.

Do you believe in reusing the elements of your trousseau?

Absolutely already have and will reuse. Love them! My trick is not to wear them all at the same time, pull one piece out of the set and make it a statement piece.

For the new age brides, what advice would you give them to help them make conscious choices?

My very stylish and rich friend told me not to get so caught up in all the wedding jewelry frenzy. “Just buy something you really love and don’t worry what anyone says you have to do.” I took this advice for my jewelry choices and actually for all my wedding choices. And I ended up enjoying every minute vs trying to please everyone else. Best advice ever.

For the new age brides, what advice would you give them to help them make conscious choices?

Don’t go with the trend. Because trends come and go. The bandwagon you hop on today, might be something you resent a year from now.  Identify things that has always had a place in your heart no matter how times have changed. Sticking with those decisions will make you cherish your wedding when you look at photos And videos years later.

I wanted something which is a statement piece which is a mix of traditional and contemporary but in a decent budget too.

Of course that’s one of the reasons to pick Zariin. I wanted most of the things to be used again. All parts of my outfit were coordinates that can be worn again separately too.

Yes I have worn them separately with different things. Saree or suits on different events- friends weddings/ events and even at Diwali parties.

For the new age brides, what advice would you give them to help them make conscious choices?

I would suggest there is no point of buying so much of real gold / precious jewellery which is in trend currently because things go out of fashion and no point to spending so much money. You can buy some classics of course, however rest your can buy more of confluence jewellery. So it can be used later too for other events and outfits too!

Meet Zariin Bride – Mukta Nag

What inspired you to pick a Zariin for your special day?

I was looking for simple, elegant jewelry that I could use later. I definitely did not want to spend all my savings on buying heavy jewelry for just 1-2 days. Zariin’s designs and pricing checked all my requirements.

Do you believe in reusing the elements of your trousseau?

Yes, I’ve reused the chocker necklace and both my rings with party wear and business formals. I like mixing western outfits with Indian jewelry. Zariin’s designs definitely allow a great mix and match with different styles of clothing.

Did you end up wearing your Zariin piece again? What are the different ways you see yourself styling the Zariin piece you wore for your wedding events?

The choker necklace goes really well with any plain dress. It goes well with business suits and skirts. I’ve worn the choker necklace with sarees and kurtas too.

Both the rings are statement pieces. I usually go light on the rest of my jewelry when I’m wearing those rings when pairing up with western outfits.

I wore the pearl ring and the maang tikka for my friend’s wedding party and loved it.

For the new age brides, what advice would you give them to help them make conscious choices?

It’s prudent to invest in jewelry that you will reuse rather than storing in the bank.
