Real Women: Expats in Delhi - Courtney Al Moreno

Meet our next guest in the Expats in Delhi Series, Courtney Al Moreno, an American Expat in Delhi, who is an educator in the American Embassy School, a wife and a mom! We love the candidness and effervescence that Courtney brings to this interview. Hearing her talk about what joy means to her, almost gave us goosebumps!

1.Tell us a little about yourself and what brings you to Delhi?
I am a middle school teacher here at the American Embassy School. We reached here about 11 years ago and started a family.

2.What’s your most favourite thing about Delhi?
I love the different seasons. Looooove Monsoon season in Delhi. That’s my favourite

3. What’s your favourite spot in Delhi?
Our favourite spot is Lodhi Garden. We run there from school, all around Lodhi to back home…it’s about 11kms. And during Covid, we started doing that as our dates. So Lodhi Garden is our go to spot , both as our date runs as well as we like to bring our kids there and have picnics.

4. How do you unwind after a long day at work?
I don’t unwind after work. We do all sit down at dinner. That’s the time to unwind and we always debrief our days with some reflection on the best and worst parts and what we hope for, for the next day and how we have lived our values and what we are grateful for. So that really slows things down.

5. What’s your relationship with jewellery?
I always want more jewellery. For a long time I didn’t think I wanted to be that kind of person. I do need jewellery in my life. It makes me happy.

6. What are some words that come to your mind when you think of Zariin and how does the jewellery fit into your personal style?
I love the Zariin pieces because I can wear them to work, I can wear them to galas, I can buy it and know that it can fit into tones of different scenarios which as an expat is really helpful because I need to be able to take it with me to a beach holiday and I might also be going to a fancy dinner with it.

7.What does JOY mean to you?
Joy for me is exploring India with my husband and children and see how much they love the place as their home. I just get so much Joy out of watching them be….anywhere in India, especially on our travels. They love it and that is the most JOYFUL thing to me.
